About me

My name is Tomás McKenna, I'm an Irish scientist working at the Katajisto lab at the Karolinska Institutet, in Stockholm, Sweden. I am a driven, enthusiastic person with a high motivation to always do my best. Right now I'm focused on the stem cell niche, specifically I want to pick apart the effects of ECM proteins on the morphology and stemness of cells in the niche, and try to find out how ECM properties control cell behaviour.

English is my mother-tongue, I also speak Swedish fluently, have good German, and know beagán beag Gaeilge.

When not working I like to practise Brazilian ju-jitsu and climbing. I love the outdoors, and try to ski and hike as much as possible. I also love photography and microscopy.
